NORMAL HUGGER

Normal hugger is an experimental game exploring what we think of as "normal" in terms of physical contact and affection. The controller aims to enhance the awkwardness that can arise during a hug.

To register a "normal" hug, the player wearing the device must lift their arms to reciprocate the hug. Their partner must insert their hand for a variable amount of time in a pocket on the back of the sweater. An LCD board displays the number of "normal" hugs the player has received during the day. With each hug, the player breaks a brick in the corresponding digital game. However, when all of the bricks are destroyed the game resets; ultimately normalizing physical contact is arbitrary.
